I first met Patrick 45 years ago, in April 1978 when l got the job as staff photographer and we worked together for four years on the weekly Hillingdon Mirror Newspaper. There are four centre page spreads on the Picture Gallery of our work. They illustrate Patrick had the most brilliant witty and comical sense of humour in ‘ The name’s Alf Lunnon - he’s the man with the golden pinta ’ and ‘ Splashing out at two boro’ fetes ’ is written as a letter to his mother Dear Mum… he also showed great empathy in the Harmondsworth detention centre story. Finally ‘ One Big Happy Family ’ is a true love story based in Hayes. I have always had the deepest admiration and respect for Patrick and l am sending my condolences to Julia his daughters and family.
