I have been a member of Bootham Writers for a number of years and have very much appreciated Patrick's warm and encouraging presence, his positive feedback and intelligent advice. My husband James and I very much enjoyed his novel earlier this year, and James the opportunity to share with Patrick his experience of Belfast at the height of 'The Troubles' as a student, recorded by James in his memoir which Patrick read. Apart from that, what a lovely gentle man, what a loss to us and the family. I shall remember him and his lovely soft Irish lilt, his calming presence. My thoughts with all of you.
